Hua Hin

It awed me when I saw the letter of invitation immigration received on my behalf for me to come to this country. "... requests that permission be granted by the Kingdom of Thailand..." Kingdom how cool is that :-)

Hua Hin is home to the Summer Palace of the King of Thailand.

The Palace's name is Wang Klai Kang-Woan translation far from worry-things.
Wang = Palace, Klai = Far and Kang-Woan = worry Wow don't we all need a place or palace like that LOL

Hua Hin is located on the Gulf of Thailand (formerly the Gulf of Siam). Although on the water, I still find it to be extremely warm. Not as hot as Bangkok mind you - probably 8C-10C difference - and the air seems much fresher.

The hotel we are staying is not one of ours, as ours is still under construction. The hotel we are in is nice 4 star, beautiful lobby and public areas - almost dreamy. The guest rooms are nice size and clean, though a little tired and repairs touch ups that have been done, no attention was paid to detail - quite sloppy. For example, wall paint on ceiling, vanity etc.

The food is okay. There are 3 restaurants: European/American style, Italian and of course Thai.

Last week the Thai restaurant offered a buffet - quite extensive - I would love to tell you everything I tried but the names escaped me... All were highly influenced by the location to the sea - lots of seafood based items. (Mom would not have cared for much of it) During the buffet, we were entertained by Thai dancers. Lovely women dressed in traditional costumes. Their outfits were beautiful vibrant colours of silk, they wore head dresses of gold with jewels, the effect was lovely.
